Saturday’s festival to celebrate Buffalo’s fine tradition of beer

When it comes to making beer, Buffalo has deep roots.

“People think of Milwaukee as a beer town, but there’s only five breweries in Milwaukee,” said Tim Herzog of Flying Bison Brewing Company. “Sure, they’re huge, but Buffalo has had over 35.” On Saturday, the brewing heritage of Buffalo and New York State will be on tap at the Buffalo Brewfest, an event dedicated to “raising awareness of handmade local beer,” said Herzog, an organizer. “The fresh, artisanal brews available today are really something to celebrate.”

There will be more than 30 brewers, and more than 70 beers, from across the Empire State and Pennsylvania, presented in the 1920s Art Deco space of Buffalo’s Central Terminal, Herzog said.
