Here is a slideshow of the premiere last night…
My own buck-tree-eighty on the premiere:
- Some of the streets highlighted in the documentary were the streets I grew up on. Though I spend a lot of time in the Broadway-Fillmore Area and see such images on a regular basis, it kills me to look at these homes and streets. It is as though a part of me is dying along with these homes. When I walk around or drive around the neighborhood, sometimes I just sit down or stop and literally cry.
- The victims, the true victims in all of this decline are the people who live this day-in-and-day-out. The people who live in the midst of all the blight…the children…the seniors…the normal everyday people who want what all of us want, a decent place to live our lives, raise our families, etc.
- I joined the Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle…something I always wanted to do…it is a very cool place…
- The variety of people who attended the event amazed me. People from all corners of WNY…impressive showing.
- A large contingent from the local blogging community attended as well. (the internet is becoming a great thing)
- A lot of people came together to help bring this together…power to the people…
- The most important thing that I came away with from last night is H O P E…people do care…
I am sure more is to come on Flipped…stay tuned…
