Am-Pol Eagle: A lot has changed over the years, but they still pump gas at 1225 Broadway

(by Gregory Witul) After an East-Buffalonian drove his or her car off the lot at Lipowicz Motor Co. on Fillmore or purchased it from an acquaintance at a tavern, the one thing they had in the back of their mind was, where can I find cheap, clean, gasoline. Since 1924, 1225 Broadway at the intersection of Curtis and Broadway has been home to such a place being the Curtis Service Station for much of its early life.

With $10,000 Glenn Glidersleeve, along with help from S. H. Montfort and A. B. Marion, purchased property on Broadway, bought some lubricating machines, tires, tubs, oil, parts, pumps, a storage tank of Super-Hygrade Motor Gasoline, and incorporated the Curtis Service Station in 1924.
