Tonight (this morning) I got home from Dyngus Day celebrations in Polonia and did a search via an online thesaurus for the word incredible.
This is what it gave me…amazing, astonishing, astounding, bang-up, best, breathtaking, cool, crack, dilly, doozie, extravagant, fab, fantastic, fictitious, first class, gone, greatest, groovy, immense, in spades, inconceivable, incredible, legendary, marvelous, mind-blowing, out-of-this-world, outrageous, peachy, phenomenal, primo, prodigious, rad, remarkable, spectacular, striking, stupendous, super, superb, terrific, top drawer, tops, turn-on, unbelievable, unreal, wicked and wondrous.
You can take any assortment of these words to describe what happened in Broadway-Fillmore last night.
I had conversations with more than a few people who dig in and help the neighborhood…a reoccuring theme was about how the work a lot of people do in B-F is starting to pay dividends. The feeling was absolutely electric this Dyngus Day.
A lot of people did not know what to expect (me included), but I don’t think anyone expected the turnout, the excitement…it goes beyond words. You could see it on everyone’s faces…the love that is shared for the neighborhood. I had to to take a step back at one point tonight and breathe it all in.
Mike Gilhooly already posted some photos from the parade…I am posting more…more will follow of Dyngus Day.
Broadway-Fillmore is ALIVE!!!
