Central Terminal Love Stories

It’s May of 1946. A pretty 22 year old brunette is walking through the concourse, chatting happily with her best friend. They are on their way to work in the New York Central Railroad’s Billing Department. As they walk past the Union News stand, the brunette spots a handsome young man standing on the side, smoking a cigarette. She turns to her friend and whispers “that’s the man I’m going to marry!”. And so she did, 5 months later. It was truly a case of love at first sight.

That pretty young girl was Rita Schwendler and the handsome young man was Earl Miller. They are my parents and this is a true story.
