Another Flipping Success…

Last night B-F-A took up shop at the Screening Room in Amherst for another showing of “Flipped“.

A nice crowd was on hand.

Michele Johnson still can’t get over the interest in the movie and the many new faces that came out to see it.  I can’t either.

The biggest feeling I get from the crowd response after the showing of the movie is that people never realized the scope of the proplem of vacant and abandoned properties throughout Buffalo and on the East Side.  In a lot of ways the movie opens people’s eyes.  This is good because it draws attention to the problem.

I don’t know who the person was that commented the following during the Q&A after the show, but they simply said “They had no idea of the condition of the housing situation in many parts of Buffalo”.  That is why “Flipped” is important.  It raises awareness.

At points “Flipped” is tough for me to watch because I see images of the neighborhood I grew up in in total shambles.  It is sad, but through the work of Michele and others there is hope for new day in places like Broadway-Fillmore.  You can see things literally starting to change.

The Broadway-Fillmore area is indeed alive!
