Generally when people think of preservation, they think of buildings, but preserving the history of the Broadway-Fillmore area is something that includes its cultural traditions and heritage.  It is part of the puzzle to help revitalize the area.

One of my reasons in joining Corpus Christi parish was the fact the good Pauline Fathers have gone to great lengths to preserve traditional Polish observances when it comes to the Catholic Church.  I am guessing this is contributing to the church growing in numbers. One of these observances is the feast of Corpus Christi and the traditional procession and adoration.

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi began on Friday at 4:30 PM and continued with 40 hours devotion and adoration to the Eucharist.  The church had its doors open to the public during this time day and night.  I participated by being at the Corpus Christi both late Friday and Saturday nights for an hour or so.  It culminated with a procession on Sunday afternoon from Corpus Christi to Saint Stan’s. A moving experience of faith that is hard to describe in words.

Here is a short slideshow of the procession
