Buffalo is indeed a small world!
After getting to know Michele Johnson over the last seven months, one of the things I learned was that her daughter Destiny would be attending my alma mater…the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts…for high school.
Tonight we met up at the Arts Academy. Michele and her daughter were attending the new student night at the school.
The Arts Academy allows students with various artistic abilities to immerse themselves in the arts for their high school experience. Dance, theatre, radio/television, music, visual arts, etc… A way to help them develop their talents in a focused environment. The school has turned out such people as Jesse Martin, Claudine Ewing, Ani DiFranco, Stefan Mychajliw and Pete Gallivan to name a few.
It is truly one of the gems in the Buffalo public school system.
I am the Alumni Association president for the school…upon learning that Michele’s daughter was going to attend, it made me realize how closely people in Buffalo are tied together in one experience or another.
If you ever get the chance to meet Destiny, she exudes the type of talent that will take her far in the arts.
