Looking for a fun and festive way to celebrate Christmas with your friends and family? If so, you might want to check out this awesome event happening this Saturday. It’s a cultural exchange between the Polish and Hispanic communities, who share a common Roman Catholic faith and different Christmas traditions. Sounds cool, right?
The event is free and open to everyone, and it will take place at 5 p.m. in the Adamski Social Center across the street from St. Stanislaus Church, 389 Peckham St.
You’ll get to enjoy a traditional Polish Christmas Eve meal called Wigilia, which features the sharing of a Christmas wafer called oplatek that is eaten as participants wish each other well. You’ll also get to experience a Puerto Rican Yuletide festival known as Parrandas that will feature live music by Vitin y los Trovadores. And if that’s not enough, there will also be a basket raffle with some amazing prizes.
But before all that, you can join the clergy from both the Polish and Hispanic communities for a Mass at 4 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. It will be a beautiful way to express your faith and gratitude for the season.
