For the ninth year in a row on Holy Thursday (April 2), Broadway Fillmore Alive has put together a self-guided tour of seven historic churches in the First Ward, The Valley and the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood partaking in the traditional visitation of the Blessed Sacrament in seven churches on this holy night.
Churches on this year’s One Night and Seven Churches include: Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Saint Stanislaus, Saint Luke’s Mission of Mercy, Saint Adalbert Basilica, Saint John Kanty and Saint Clare.
The visitation period generally begins after Holy Thursday Mass around 8:30 pm and the churches remain open till around 11:00 pm.
In our first year, we had about 50 requests for the tour info. The number of requests over the last few years has risen to over 700.
The churches in Buffalo’s historic immigrant neighborhoods are awe inspiring and are deeply rooted in tradition. This is a way to experience their religious, artistic and cultural beauty while spending some time in prayer and reflection in this most sacred time of year on the Roman Catholic calendar.

What a wonderful tradition. Perhaps one year we will get home to enjoy. I remember these churches growing up. I did belong to St Joachim’s and went to school there for 8 years.
