All Souls Commemoration 10/30 at Saint Stan’s Cemetery

Please join us in praying for the souls of our dearly departed loved ones on Sunday, Oct. 30 in the age old Polish tradition of visiting the cemetery around All Souls Day. Fr. Ted Bocianowski will lead us in prayers at 1:30 p.m.

Our central meeting place will be at the Polish Veterans Plot, which is past the original Mausoleum on the right. In case of rain, we will gather in the Mausoleum.

Whether you have someone buried in the Veterans Plot or not, you are invited to join us on your way to or from your loved one’s gravesites. If you don’t have anyone buried at St. Stan’s, you are welcome to leave a candle in your ancestors’ memory at the shrine/monument at the Vets Plot.

In Poland, people travel from all over the country to visit the graves of their dearly departed. They place candles and flowers on graves of ancestors and friends, favorite teachers, even on lonely graves that no one visits.

We will have special Polish cemetery candles for sale, which contain covers to shield the flame from wind and rain.

After the cemetery, we will get together for something warm to eat. Location to be announced soon. Please let us know if you’re coming to the cemetry or to both and if you’d like to purchase a candle.
