Reply to Buffalo News letter to the editor: Bishop disrespects Vatican, parishioners

This is a reader submission response to this post yesterday—->

—————————————-

(By Judith F.) Please read the letter from Celso Morga Iruzubieta, Titular Archbishop of Alba marittima, Secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy, to Mr. Ronald Suchocki, a former Trustee of St. Adalbert’s at the end of this post. If the letter is read in its entirety without taking things out of context, you will understand what Rome has said, and that Bishop Kmiec is doing what the Vatican allows him; he is not doing anything contrary.

I really have to wonder about the statement “I am certain we do not have to look very far for those who removed the six-foot banner across the front of the basilica”. Is it good to attack the Bishop from a Catholic church?

Lets face the facts: if we continue with our petty infighting, there will be NO CATHOLIC CHURCH in the Broadway-Fillmore area. If your faith is found in a building, you have missed something somewhere. I take my faith to church with me; I also practice it on the outside. We will close all of the Broadway-Fillmore churches, and then we can go to our cookie cutter churches in Cheektowaga, Tonawanda and Depew and leave the beautiful buildings to the bulldozer.

  1. I thought that Adalbert’s attacks on the Bishop were disrespectful. This not how the Lord teaches us how to act. We need to work together and support our faith.

  2. The Lord teaches many, varied things. I’m sure you could apply one teaching to show that it is wrong to close this church. Furthermore, none of this crap would be happening if Jan Pawel II was still running the shop . . .

  3. The question all over town is Bishop Kmiec “What would Jesus Do?”
Every time I see those signs I need to pray for the people that are polluting the landscape with lies and innuendo. What Jesus DID was to listen to His Father even though it was so much more than loosing a building? What if these people were REALLY tested like Jesus was? Ultimately Jesus saved us all by listening to His Father – Thank God He did. So next time you see a yellow sign reminding you to think “what would Jesus do?” He listened and OBEYED!

    Matthew 26:39

He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
