AM-POL Eagle: New manager is on Broadway Market’s Christmas list

With the recognized official start to the Christmas shopping season arriving this week, Buffalo’s historic Broadway Market is searching for a new manager.

Tom Kerr recently left the position he held for one year. Although Kerr declined to be interviewed for this story, others close to the situation tell the Am-Pol Eagle Kerr withdrew his candidacy for a new contract. He was said to be among three finalists under consideration by City Hall.

While Kerr’s original contract was with the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation, the organization’s functions are being taken over by the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency.

Christopher Byrd, a Buffalo community activist and former Am-Pol Eagle Citizen of the Year, sat on a task force created in 2008 after the Broadway Market Management Corporation dissolved and returned control of the Market to the City of Buffalo. Byrd, who operates the website Broadway Fillmore Alive, suggested Kerr opponents used the dissolution of BERC as an opportunity to push for a new manager at the Broadway Market.

    I read through the ampol eagle article a few times and you are the only one who makes sense.

    There still appears to be more going here than meets the eye.
