Early Easter shoppers are putting some spark into Market

Great great news from The Buffalo News this morning as the “extended” Easter Season at the Broadway Market is already reaping rewards!

From the Buffalo News…

– Ania Gurnari looked out at the long line of customers waiting to buy tasty baked goods at the E. M. Chrusciki Bakery in the center of the Broadway Market — and was delighted.

“It’s wonderful!” smiled the 18- year-old, whose parents own the famed Polish bakery that is a mainstay in the East Side shopping center. She wasn’t even scheduled to be working Saturday, but when her parents realized how big the crowds were getting, they called her in.

“A lot of good things are happening,” Gurnari said.

A full two weeks before Holy Week, which has traditionally been the busiest time of year for the Broadway Market, it was bustling with customers eager to buy baked goodies, smoked sausage and fresh horseradish as well as hand-painted wooden eggs and other Polish crafts.

That’s exactly what the market’s managers and volunteers were hoping for as they kicked off an expanded Easter shopping season Friday.
