Seen at the Broadway Market on Saturday. . .Mythbusters

While drinking some coffee at E. M. Chrusciki on Saturday, I noticed a group of people eyeing up the sugary delights at said vendor.

The folks in the photo above make regular trips to Market throughout the year…they are from Grand Island and they love the Market.  There were no signs of concern on their faces…no worries for their saftey…no fear of the neighborhood…no checking on their car every five minutes to see if it had been stolen…they were simply enjoying their Saturday morning taking in the sights, sounds, and delicious aromatic smells of the Broadway Market.

They came because there is nothing else like it in WNY.

  1. First of all, I know those people!! How cool is that?

Second, and my real reason for commenting, I used to be a regular there as well, when we lived in NW Cheektowaga. I was in the B’way Market at least once a week. My then-preschooler and I used to attend weekday Mass at Corpus Christi a few times a week, and we always stopped for rye bread, produce, deli stuff, etc. Bob’s Deli (sadly now gone, I believe) had the best deli prices anywhere, and stuff like Polish Sausage Loaf which I cannot find out here in Lockport. I usually parked either in the ramp, or on Clark St., or the CC lot. I never, ever had a problem down there, and I felt perfectly safe walking with my young child, being pretty pregnant with my second.

We still make it every Shrove Tuesday for Chrusciki’s paczki. And sometimes more often, when we are in the city.
