Getting a Basket Blessed @ Saint Adalbert’s Today

The above picture is from Holy Saturday 2007. The Byrd family basket has been blessed at St. Adalbert’s for a number of years now.

Now for the rest of the story.

I basically have 8 million things going on at one time in my Byrd brain. Because of this, I sometimes get times crossed or wrong. As I made my way up the stairs today at Saint Adalbert’s to get my basket blessed, I had a sinking feeling that I had messed up the time for the basket blessing. I thought it was 3 pm…not. It was for 2 pm.

Luckily, Father Ted was preparing for the Easter Vigil tonight. He looked at me with my basket and laughed. I told him that I thought the blessing was at 2 pm. He said come on up to the altar. Father Ted went into the sacristy, pulled out what he needed to bless my basket. After a few prayers, my basket was blessed.

Father said afterward, “See, you made it at the right time after all.”

A special BFA dziekuje to Father Ted!!!
