Another Vacant House Fire

From the Buffalo News

Buffalo firefighters responding to a fire in the city’s Broadway-Fillmore area found a vacant house fully engulfed in flames just before midnight Tuesday night. Fire investigators remained at the scene, at 227 Townsend St., at mid-morning today, trying to determine whether an arsonist ignited the blaze that destroyed one house and left exposure damage next door.

After firefighters responded to an 11:56 p.m. alarm, fire officials called for extra companies at the scene because of a problem in getting enough water from area fire hydrants.

City officials called for emergency demolition of the 2 story frame house at 227 Townsend, where the damage estimate was $30,000. The fire also left $5,000 exposure damage at 229 Townsend.
