On Thanksgiving, we generally sit around eating Turkey and pies, occasionally thinking about what we are thankful for.  Yesterday, new realization struck me.  I realized that I have more to be thankful for than many folk in Buffalo, and I found a whole bunch of new things to be thankful for.

Michele Johnson and I had started talking about a Broadway Fillmore neighborhood Thanksgiving Dinner a few months ago.  Since we really had no clue how to manage something of this sort, it was decided that we’d keep it small and it would be a word of mouth event, inviting mainly those who we knew would be alone for the holiday.  Michele gathered her network and organized it, I offered to help cook.

Through a few panicked emails, Michele and I were able to work through the game plan.  On Wednesday afternoon, I arrived at the Post on the tip of Paderewski and Memorial armed with a cooked turkey with gravy, a pan of marshmallowed whipped sweet potatoes, and pumpkin & sweet potato pies.
