I attended a prayer vigil for Sr. Karen Klimczak on Friday evening outside of the Bissonnette House on Grider Street in a park created by Sr. Karen called Peace Park.  To be perfectly honest, I never met her.  But like most people this past week, I became familiar with her life and what she accomplished.

What always amazes me about people like Sr. Klimczak is that their valuable work virtually goes un-noticed in the public eye…people that don’t seek the accolades or applause for what they are doing.  They just do it because they feel something inside pushing them to help others.

Listening to all the speakers at the vigil, you could just feel the impact she had on many lives. Sr. Karen was a part of the fabric of Buffalo’s East Side community…an example to us all about what making a difference really is.

If anything good comes out of this tragedy, it will teach people both the importance of getting involved in your community and how violence in our communities impacts all of us.
