It was truly an extraordinary day at Corpus Christi Church on Sunday.

I wrote this on Facebook:

And sometimes I get in the Buffalo News!!! So proud of the work us Corpus Christi people do…amazing to think that the church came —>this close<— to closing eight years ago…we have come so far!!!

Please consider donating to Corpus Chirsti’s preservation fund—>

Corpus Christi is living breathing history…a building not re-purposed, but saved and still being used as it was meant to be.

I also like what I said in the Buffalo News:

“It put into perspective the work we put into this church. It binds us with the past. It reaffirms why a lot of us are here, preserving the parish.”

Byrd, whose grandmother was baptized in the church in 1916, said that most parishioners feel very strongly about preserving the parish.

“We feel that we owe that,” he said. “By us being involved in preserving their church, it’s as if we’re going to church with our ancestors.”

It is at the core of what I do here with BFA…positioning the neighborhood’s past to be a vital part of its future.

In one word…ALIVE!
