Why do things like this always get scheduled when I am going to be out of town?  Oh…I will be in Kentucky visiting my niece’s newborn baby girl…thanks for asking.

A nationally recognized expert in public markets has been called upon to begin a regional discussion about the future of the Broadway Public Market. The discussion, Revisiting and Re-Imagining the Broadway Public Market, will take place on Friday, February 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Minnie Gillette Auditorium, at Erie Community College City Campus, 121 Ellicott Street, Buffalo. The event will include a review of the 1999 Project for Public Spaces Report on the Market and information about changing public market trends since the study was published 12 years ago. This event is free and open to the public.

“Listening and learning from Project For Public Spaces will begin meaningful regional dialogue about the Broadway Public Market,” said Buffalo Common Council President & Fillmore District Councilman David Franczyk. “I hope that this conversation will raise new questions about the future of the Broadway Public Market and will assist in focusing all stakeholders in the planning process.”

A couple month’s ago, I posted the plan here on BFA and have been advocating for its use as guide for reinventing the Broadway Market by the City of Buffalo and all interested stakeholders.  If you can attend and love the Market, it will be an interesting presentation on what can be done to move it forward.

  1. All I know is that everytime I go in the market during the week the place is like a ghost town. Something needs to done. Wht does the market always have problems with management and politcs.

  2. The meeting is being held when vendors can’t be there…during normal business hours……gee Marty Eddie and Dave how convenient so you don’t have o hear from them….

  3. There is no reason why Market vendors can not be there. Most of them have employees or close at 4PM anyway. You are observing up the wrong tree. Stop causing problems when these comments really are not necessary.

  4. Why not hold the meeting IN THE MARKET?????? I’m pretty sure there is room to hold a public meeting. I’ve been to several there.
