Save Saint Adalbert’s “Night at the Races” Cancelled

(From Save Saint Adalbert’s)

We had Night at the Races, a fundraiser sponsored by Save St. Adalberts, scheduled for April 26 at the Hank Nowak Post on Abbott Road.

Unfortunately, we have to cancel that event because someone raised at complaint to the hall regarding the fact that offering racing may be an illegal event.

Although the town approved a permit for it, the Hall has decided not to have the event as it could cost them their license if reported to NYS. We wanted to make other groups that sponsor similiar events aware that there are people out there that are just watching for your events and could possibly cost you a large sum of money for any possible fines.

Although it was an event we were looking forward to, and counted on raising some money for our appeal, there are many other ways to fundraise.

We will just have to think of something else to help raise funds.

Refunds will be given for tickets already paid for. Please contact Lori Dinero at 692-0585 for more information.

    NIGHT AT THE RACES CANCELLED

The committee had scheduled this fundraiser to raise funds for the appeal effort. Apparently, the Post received a complaint from someone. The Commander then called the town for an event permit and was referred to the NYS Racing & Wagering Board. He was informed that “armchair races” are illegal. Therefore we are canceling the event. We thank the Hank Nowak Post for their support and are sorry for any inconvenience to all those who planned to attend. Your donation will be refunded. Please see Lori Dinero after Mass on Saturdays or call 716-692-0585. We are aware that MANY churches & organizations do hold these “armchair races”. Let us pray for the person who felt it necessary to complain. Thank you all for your support. Please watch for new fundraisers to be announced shortly and please plan to join us for the Polish Heritage Festival next month.
