Video: One Night and Seven Churches 2008

By Christopher Byrd | March 23, 2008

First off…thank you to all who participated…second…thank you to the Adam Mickiewicz Library for opening up afterwards for some food and drink.

An absolutely beautiful night…I know a lot of attention is focused on the Broadway Market during the holiday, but the Market is only part of what makes B-F and Polonia wonderful during this time of year…the churches are the center of all the tradition and heritage.  The seven churches visitation is special because people get to experience the churches in all of their glory.  People often think of historic preservation in terms of buildings alone, but with the churches in B-F, we celebrate our living history weekly. In a lot of ways, that is why I put together the “One Night and Seven Churches”, because the neighborhood’s history is more than just the buildings.

I hope there will be another “One Night and Seven Churches” in 2009 (hopefully more Churches will be on the venue but probably not since the Diocese is closing / has closed churches)….

I plan on coming back to Buffalo for Easter next year to visit the Broadway Market, the B-F Churches and hit as many dyngus Day parties as I can!

    Long live Polonia!
