Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo is on the hunt for the best pierogi in town. They’re hosting the 13th Buffalo’s Best Pierogi contest on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2:30 pm. It’s open to all you amateur cooks and local businesses.

This contest is just one part of the church’s 44th Dożynki Polish Harvest Festival happening on October 7 and 8, 2023.

The event organizer, Christopher Byrd, says it’s all about celebrating Buffalo’s love for food and our city’s diverse cultural heritage. They’ve got some seriously passionate folks competing with their homemade pierogi recipes, and it’s gonna be a great event.

Since this is the first contest since the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s even more exciting. If you want to enter, head over to the church’s website or call at (716) 218-0232. And mark your calendars because the deadline for entries is September 30, 2023.

A panel of judges will determine who takes home the coveted title of Buffalo’s Best Pierogi Maker and the golden rolling pin. There are also prizes for second and third place, so you better bring your A-game!

Corpus Christi Church was established in 1898 and is a key part of Buffalo’s Historic Polonia neighborhood at 199 Clark Street. It’s on the state and national lists of historic sites.
