The Matt Urban Center’s Trunk or Treat to go on October 27 at Central Terminal

The Matt Urban Center will once again be celebrating the fall season and Halloween with its annual safe trick-or-treating community event: Trunk or Treat To-Go!

On Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 p.m., the agency will host Trunk or Treat To-Go! at the Buffalo Central Terminal, located at 495 Paderewski Drive. The event is a free, safe trick-or-treating event for youth and families in the Broadway-Fillmore community. Due to COVID-19’s continued presence in our lives, the event will be a socially distanced walkthrough with procedures in place to ensure that trick-or-treaters and their families are safe. The event will include candy, refreshments, giveaways, and resources from several neighborhood organizations.

The roster of community groups and businesses who will be present at the event includes: the Buffalo Fire Department, the Buffalo Police Department Neighborhood Engagement Team and C District Community Police Officers, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Bookmobile, the Albright-Knox Art Truck, Buffalo’s Best Batman, Justice League of WNY, Highmark BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, Jericho Road Community Health Center, the Buffalo Bills, Associated Physical & Occupational Therapists, Project HOPE, New City Parks, and Target.

New City Parks will be conducting outreach at the event to get input from community residents on the proposed redevelopment of Sears Paderewski Park in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood. The event will also feature a celebration of a new public art installation in the neighborhood.

The Welcome Art entry at the Buffalo Central Terminal will be unveiled at 4:00 p.m. Doodle Portal was created by artist Nando Alverez Perez and integrates art created by youth who participated in summer programming at the Matt Urban Center. This project was created with support from Fillmore District Councilmember Mitch Nowakowski, the June Farrington Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, and East Side Avenues.

Trunk or Treat To-Go! is sponsored by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 41, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Target, Lawley Insurance, Paula’s Donuts, and Fillmore District Councilmember Mitch Nowakowski.

The Matt Urban Center is a human services organization that has been serving the East Side of Buffalo for 45 years with the mission of providing programs that revitalize neighborhoods, serve families and change lives.
