Photo: That time Lana Turner was at the Buffalo Central Terminal

We’ve mentioned this before, but BFA friend, Bill Blake, finds some cool and obscure photos of the neighborhood and its history through his research. This is definitely fits that bill. I’m glad he shares them with us so we can share with you. Thanks, Bill.

November 8, 1947 – “Screen Star Sees Historic Iwo Jima flag on Freedom Train Lieut. Col. Robert F. Scott in charge of the Freedom Train which thousands of Buffalonians saw Friday as it paused at New York Central Terminal, shows Screen Star Lana Turner the historic flag raised on Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima, subject of the most famous photograph made during the war. Miss Turner got an ovation at the train.”
