The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation announced the completion of its electric, solar and lighting initiative for the historic building.
The project brought commercial-grade power back to the Central Terminal for the first time since it was decommissioned as a train station back in 1979.
The work included putting in new solar panels, installing LED lighting and some more noticeable changes on the exterior.
“The most iconic or the most visible part of the project has obviously been the lighting of the tower, from kind of the crown down, re-allows us to accent or highlight some of the architectural features and really brings the building back to be a beacon of the East Side,” said Paul Lang, Central Terminal Restoration Corporation vice chair.
The project was made possible in part thanks to a $250,000 grant secured by Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes.
