Mayor Brown Announces Completion of The Broadway Market Free Public WIFI Installation

Buffalo’s free public WiFi network continues to expand, with newly installed hotspot access points at the historic Broadway Market. Mayor Byron W. Brown, City of Buffalo Chief Information Officer (CIO) Dr. Luis Taveras and Eric Wong, Vice President of Engineering and Network Operations at Blue Wireless, were joined by market vendors and residents to announce the completion of the installation of the Broadway Market Free Public WiFi network, a valuable service that will help more people stay connected.

“Our business districts citywide are the economic engines of our neighborhoods and our WIFI network at the Broadway Market will ensure that vendors, residents and visitors will have access to affordable, high speed internet,” said Mayor Brown. “As our inclusive and equitable City continues to grow, we must find ways to support the entrepreneurs who are driving technological advances and creating jobs. I thank Blue Wireless for again partnering with us, as we make another targeted investment to further improve our city’s wireless infrastructure, moving us forward on the path to constant connectivity.”

The Broadway Market free public WiFi network is the latest phase of Buffalo’s growing public wireless network, which was launched by Mayor Brown along downtown Main Street in 2015.

Last year, Blue Wireless completed the installation of the JEFFREE Wi-Fi network along Jefferson Avenue, between Best Street and East Delavan.
