Historic East Side Neighborhood Initiative Plans Clean Up for Saturday

The Historic East Side Neighborhood Initiative (HESNI) is a new preservation group for East Buffalo concentrating on helping rescue historic buildings, establishing a local historic district, and establishing “Clean Teams” to work on a variety of neighborhood clean ups. HESNI is set on really making a difference in eliminating blight and protecting the historic buildings in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.

The first public project HESNI is working on is a clean up in two areas of the neighborhood this Saturday, May 14th. The group is going to focus on few vacant properties around Broadway Market and the Central Terminal from 10am until 2pm on Saturday.

You can volunteer for the clean up and decide where you would like to work Saturday by adding your name to a GoogleDoc sign up sheet by clicking here—>

HESNI has a few requests for particpants: Attendees must be 15 years old, must have their own gloves, and must wear closed toe shoes for the clean up.

If you would like additional information about the event, contact Jim Serafin of the HESNI at 716-541-5391.

Buffalo’s Young Preservationists will also be participating in the event and have a Facebook event page set up for it. Follow the link to access—> https://www.facebook.com/events/1024059577663927/
