Monsignor Robert Golombek was a longtime pastor of East Buffalo’s Saint John Kanty Church. He grew up in the neighborhood on Swinburne Street. Every year he orders a lot of pączki from the bakeries at the Broadway Market to take around to churches, friends, and family in and around Buffalo. He also made his annual stop at Saint John Kanty yesterday for Pączki Day.

“It was always a tradition to come to the market, buy the donuts, and share them with family and friends,” he said.
As is his tradition, Golombek bought seven dozen treats — to deliver to churches all over Western New York. He has been doing this for more than fifty years.
