Beautiful…the Chopin Singing Society is a true Polonia treasure…having them perform inside of place like Saint Adalbert Basilica is great!

They added a lot to the 125th Anniversary Mass at Saint Adalbert’s yesterday.

  1. Was at the anniversary mass yesterday. It was my first visit to St Adalbert. I can’t believe the diocese wants this building sitting idle. What is the scaffolding in the church for? The diocese isn’t going to be removing things in there are they?

    1. Mark,
Thank you for attending the 125th Anniversary Celebration of St. Adalbert’s Basilica Parish. We wish you would have visited us sooner, we welcome all into our parish family with open arms. Right now, we are still hopeful that our parish site will once again be able to have regular Sunday worship services in the future, and we invite you to join us again. Please plan on attending our Remembrance Mass in November. I guarantee you will be just as awed by this beautiful celebration honoring the deceased members of not only our parish family, but you may request any deceased members of your family to be honored with a lighted candle at this service (for a small nominal charge.)
In answer to your question, the scaffolding is so that the interior of the church can be painted. About 7 years ago we had a leak, and the insurance paid for the repairs to be done, however, it was not done properly. Our parish trustees fought the last 5 years – prior to the bishop’s journey of faith and grace – to have the work corrected and it has finally been approved – just in time for the scaffolding to be up for the 125th Anniversary celebration.

We hope you will join us in November for our Remembrance Mass and ask that you support our cause to Save St. Adalbert’s. May God bless you and yours abundantly.

  2. Thank you Cathy for your insight.

It is a shame that the Buffalo Diocese doesn’t recognize the importance of these historic churches. The church and its people do the Lord’s work in many different ways. There should not be a formulaic process to dictate where churches should stay open or be closed.

I pray for the family which is St. Adalbert’s.
