The Rorate Mass (Msza Roratnia in Polish, Roratemesse in German) is a beloved, thousand year-old European seasonal tradition that hasn’t been seen in Buffalo for decades… the Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary during Advent, celebrated by candelight, takes its name from the liturgy’s opening words: “Rorate caeli” or in English “Drop down dew ye heavens” taken from the Prophet Isaiah.
St. Ann’s Church and Shrine will resurrect this tradition on Saturday December 18th at 10 AM. December 18th is also the traditional feast of the Expectation of Mary.
St. Ann’s Church and Shrine is located @ 651 Broadway at Emslie Street.
For more info, call the church at 852-0100.
I have never heard of this type of mass before. What a great idea to bring it back.
