November 11 – the national holiday of the Independence of Poland – is a special day for all Poles all over the world. This symbolic date is a reminder of the struggle and sacrifices of many generations for the independence of Poland which was wiped off the maps of Europe for 123 years.
Polish-American children at Polish Saturday School in Buffalo learn the history of their fatherland as well as the Polish language and customs. On Sat., Nov. 13 at the school cafeteria they met a veteran of the Polish Army – Krystyna C. Pienkowska.
