Two weeks ago a Facebook friend of BFA’s asked if I could post a photo of 1279 Broadway…it was the ancestral home for her family…I get requests like this from time to time and like doing it.
Last week Sunday I snapped a few photos and posted them on Facebook. (You can see those here—>)
A day or two after I took the pics, the house was torn down.
I followed up my original photo response to the individual with pictures of the vacant lot I took yesterday.
Both us thought it odd and more than a mere coincidence that she would randomly ask me for photos of the house right before it was demo’d. In a lot of the work I do in B-F, I feel there is a higher power guiding me.
This was her response to me on Facebook after I sent the photo of the lot…
Even though I felt it was about to happen it still breaks my heart a little. I couldn’t get the courage to show my mom the pics you sent and now I don’t know how I’m going to tell her the house is gone. I know it’s kind of silly but those memories & good times just keep the heart strings connected. It is also kind of funny how I requested the photos out of pure curiosity and a week to the day you put out those pics now the new pics are out & the house is no more. I guess Grandma wanted us to have one final look. Thank you again.
That last sentence really touched me and was a reminder of why I do what I can here in B-F to help keep things ALIVE.
