A press conference to announce the “Good and Green Homes” Project to take place on Earth Day 2010 in the neighborhood surrounding The Response to Love Center. WNY AmeriCorps, Response to Love Center, and The Home Depot “Team Depot” Volunteers will utilize $34,000 in funding provided by The Home Depot Foundation to complete the projects, including repairing unsafe porches, installing fencing, scraping and painting homes, renovating bathrooms, cleaning debris from the street, installing security lights, planting a community garden in a vacant lot, and installing energy efficient doors and windows.. There will also be a call for further contractors and tradesmen to step forward and volunteer.
A walk-through of the neighborhood, including outlining planned projects, will follow the press conference.
The press conference will take place at the Response to Love Center, 130 Kosciuszko Street, Buffalo, NY on Thursday, April 15, 2010. (11:30 AM- Press Conference – 11:50 AM- Neighborhood Tour)

My Idea of Earth Day, would be to stop this drug war, and Legalize and regulate Marijuana.
I think there are hundreds of extra miles driven each year by people being told by drug dealers to “Drive around the block” while the dealer runs to the hidden stash location. The extra exhaust in the air hurts our health. Try to limit these 10 pm trips that get people killed in front of their children. Help bring more respect back to the Broadway / Fillmore area.
I’ve seen 50 – 100 deals a day on Townsend street for 16 years non stop,
(had pushed them on coit for 4 yrs). What I see, a neighborhood largely destroyed, St Stans possibly broke ?, and a Twenty year old son of the street Godfather laughing it all off, driving around in a white Jaguar.
I personally don’t smoke, and believe you should keep a clear mind.
I do question why this drug family on Townsend has been allowed to take out an estimated 10 – 20 million. You have a Police force that is NOT doing its job, and actually your being SCAMMED in the Taxes you pay, while a hollowing out of the East Side continues.
“Pay Police Like Your Life Depends On It” stickers should be removed from Buffalo Police cars. The slogan is actually an insult. Just look at all the Teddy Bear memorials on the streets where people have lost their lives. The 500 people or so killed in the last 10 years far out number 1 or 2 police officers killed in traffic accidents.
