Reminder: Tour proposed Wilson Street farm area & plant some trees – Saturday, 05/02

I spoke with Mark Stevens yesterday to firm up plans for tomorrow.  He did tell me that there application for the farm has been approved by Grassroots Gardens and now the only thing which remains is finalizing the deal with the city to lease the land as a farm…everything is looking positive.

As for tomorrow…

This event is two-fold…you can help plant some trees in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood…then meet the Stevens and take a tour of Wilson Street Urban Farm area…

Meet at Broadway Market in rear lot between 8:30-9 am and participate in ReTree WNY event…lunch will be provided to those who help plant trees at noon in Broadway Market lot. Mark Stevens will speak about his plans for Wilson Street Urban Farm around noon, then we will walk to Wilson Street to tour the area with Mr. Stevens.

If you can’t make the tree planting event, you can still come for the tour and meet Mark Stevens.

Please let us know if you want to attend…drop BFA an email at broadwayfillmore@gmail.com

This is the first in a series of tours of the neighborhood we are planning through spring and fall.

  1. I moved from Buffalo 27 years ago. I will be up there vacationing the week of July 13th. I can’t wait to see my roots. My grandparents used to live in the 1st house next to the parking lot on Wilson going near broadway. It looks like your Farm is where they lived. I look forward to visiting the area. Thanks, Judith
