The “R” is for Ronnie and the “L” is for Lottie…let’s just get that out of the way.
The R&L Lounge has been in business for almost 40 years about a 1/2 block away from the Broadway Market at 23 Mills Street.
On Fridays during Lent, they serve up one mean fish fry for a great price…what I love most about going to R&L is that it is like going back in time for me…when I was a little Chris, every gin mill in historic Polonia served up a fish fry during Lent very much like R&L now does and the places were packed…the Byrd family often went to Zephyr’s at Broadway and Deschler back in the day…gosh, it is making me hungry just to think about.
I have been meaning to post about the R&L since Lent started, but as my BFA life goes, so many things to post about so little time…that is why I was excited to see Mary Kunz Goldman (Buffalo News) post about the R&L on her blog…it was a reminder for me to do so here.
Check out her post by clicking here and see some more pics…
So before Lent is said and done, stop in the R&L Lounge…you won’t be disappointed and it is truly a one-of-a-kind B-F experience.
Alive and HUNGRY!
R&L has quite a happy little following.

When I lived there a few years back, JR’s near Kanty’s had a great fish fry including a “jumbo” which was massive. Salads, authentic rye bread and butter…we cannot find that here in So. Florida….
JRs still opened and still serving…I think I need to do a B-F fish fry post…
