Broadway Market Corpus Christi

I opened my email up this morning and had this picture in it courtesy of Marty Biniasz!!!

Very…Very…Cool…thanks Marty!

From Marty on the painting and the artist…

Alexander O. Levy was born in Germany and came to Buffalo in 1909.  He was the art director at Larkin Soap around 1913.

The attached painting, Broadway Market Impending Storm was painted in 1933. The original is currently part of the collection of the Burchfield-Penny.

If anyone ever finds an old picture or painting of something in B-F, please email us.  We can scan it and get it up on BFA.  Stuff like the above is just amazing.

  1. I just found a bunch of old photos from 1900’s thru 30’s and 40’s, mostly of 22 Hirshbeck and the like. If I can ever identify who (other than my grandparents etc) and a specific location, I will pass them on. Also found my great – great grandfathers citizenship papers from 1892, Erie County Courthouse. Amazing what you find when you move a box or two.
