It’s with sadness that I pass on the news of Alice Wadowska Bak’s death. Alice was an accomplished artist who drew and painted Polish themes. You can see her talent every Christmas Eve, when you remove a piece of oplatek from an envelope designed by her that portrays a village wigilia. (See: Buffalo Rising Article)
Alice also painted a mural in the basement of the Dom Polski on Broadway portraying Pan Twardowski on the Moon. Alice was an art instructor at the Polish Community Center for some time.
She also was a book illustrator and published a few books herself.
If anyone knows of any publicly accessible work of hers, it would be worth knowing.
