WGRZ: Buffalo Breaks Record for World’s Largest Fish Fry

Fish frys are a Friday tradition here in Buffalo.

The Queen City has beaten the home of fish and chips, for a new entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. The world’s largest fish fry was held tonight at the fairgrounds in Hamburg.

Organizers served up 2,551 pieces of beer battered goodness to break the old world record that was set in the United Kingdom.

A guinness representative was on hand to certify the record. All the fish that was not eaten was donated to the Saint Adalbert’s Response to Love Center’s Soup Kitchen in the heart of Polonia on Buffalo’s east side.

The polish heritage festival continues Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds in Hamburg.
