…the more they stay the same.

I received an interesting link from one of my childhood B-F friends about a story NPR’s “Weekend Edition” did on Buffalo back in 07/2001.  A nice thing with NPR is they have done a great job archiving old audio and stories.

From the story…

To track the extent of change in Buffalo since the Pan-American Exposition, Liane and the Weekend Edition Sunday crew visited Buffalo this past spring and summer. Their guide is Mark Goldman, a local Buffalo historian and entrepreneur. From a vantage point across the Niagara River, Goldman says you can see the history of Buffalo unfold before you — its development from a Native American settlement, to a post-industrial city.

Part of the story included a bit about the Broadway Market.  Mark Goldman and NPR stop at the Market, talk to some folks and discuss its past and future.

My only beef with the story is Mark Goldman calls it the Broadway-Fillmore Market…so it goes.

After listening to the audio and you wonder what Charlie Chaplin candy is, stop at Strawberry Island in the Market…you can try it out there.

Here is the link to full NPR story…cool read…you can also check out the other audio available with the story.
