I can virtually guarantee that the B-F house featured in this Buffalo News’ story has been issued a death sentence with very little chance for a reprieve…anyone have any ideas for better prevention of such thefts?

A California man, who owns a vacant house on the city’s East Side, had his property damaged when a thief stole the copper pipes and left the water running, police reported today.

The house, in the 100 block of Ashley Street, suffered water damage to the ceilings and floors when the thief broke in, stole the pipes and left the water running.

  1. Owner occupancy! Someone who lives in Californa can’t very well be vigilant about property protection. If you are unable to personally attend to watching your own property, exchange phone numbers with neighbors and ask them to report on any suspicious behaviors. Copper theives can read the signs of neglect and swoop in like scavangers for the scraps.
