Christmas 2007 at the Response to Love Center started off like any other Christmas dinner we serve on Christmas day with one major exception!
The Response to Love Center got a surprise visit from Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards and former Buffalo Bill Thurman Thomas. The two came with their family members to help serve the chicken dinner to the more than 350 people that showed up to celebrate Christmas with the volunteers and staff at the Response to Love Center. A select few knew about the visit but were tight lipped to make the surprise a treat for everyone including the 70 volunteers that came to serve the poor on Christmas day.
Both Trent and Thurman could not have been nicer and more accommodating to the needs of the people today. They are truly role models and are appreciated by all in attendance. Sr. Johnice presented them both with the story of Mother Teresa whom she met some twenty years ago. Mother Teresa told Sister Johnice to find her Calcutta in her home of Buffalo.
