Two Polish-American parishes, St. Adalbert and Precious Blood, on Buffalo’s East Side announced the date and time of their final Masses. One, however, isn’t so final.
Stan Kowalski Jr., co-chair of the Save St. Adalbert Committee, said the parish bulletin on Sept. 2 stated the closing Mass for St. Adalbert will take place on Sun., Nov. 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. And, a Mass of welcome will take place at St. John Kanty on Sat., Dec. 8 at 4 p.m.
“I find several problems with “this announcement,” said Kowalski. “Since we have a formal appeal process started with Rome arid the bishop was made aware of this via several letters, this process should not be on-going. According to the canonical lawyer, once the process has started, the parish should be allowed to continue as it had in the past without any ceasing of normal activities.”
