I received a call from a mutual friend that Dan Wittkopp of the Lombard St block club passed away..Many in the neighborhood knew what a blessing he was to the community..always helping his neighbors,working with various organizations within the district and being a friend to everyone…
Lombard St is and will always be very special to me and a big reason for that was Dan..I cant think of another person who worked harder in the neighborhood than Dan.. Several weeks ago I stopped over to visit him and he was telling me of his involvement in fixing up a problem property on his street ..no surprise there.. that was Dan..Last summer while on Lombard I stopped by knowing Dan had recently just came home from the hospital and Dan who let nothing slow him down was across the street helping the neighbors paint their kitchen!
RIP Dan you were an inspiration to not only myself but to everyone who knew you..You will be missed.
