Thomas B. Byrd Sr. (1939-2006)

After a month in the hospital, my father passed away on Christmas Eve.

Here is the death notice from the Buffalo News… I internally debated posting about his passing, but I started receiving emails from people who read the notice in the paper today and I thought I should post something.

Sometimes I forget about the extended set of friends and family I have made through the internet and how they have become part of my life. This is an interesting age we live in.

The internet adds a whole dynamic to our lives. At times, we have difficulty, at least me, putting the online part of us into the proper context of life in general. This dynamic is constantly evolving as well. If anything, I think it shows how the internet is increasingly being weaved into the fabric of our lives on many different levels.

My father was a good and decent man who did the best he could throughout his life. He wasn’t the perfect father, but what father is.

He loved and cared for my mother, my brothers and me in many ways. In the end, that is what is important.

I am going to miss him…
