A lot of people gave up a good part of their Thanksgiving to help others at the Response to Love Center…young, old and everyone in the middle.
Thanksgiving at the RTLC, the day is one part thanks and one part giving.
Honestly, I am at a loss for words as I sit here and key away.
The importance of the work the center does for the Broadway-Fillmore area defies me to find a word to describe it. The only thing I can come up with is MIRACLE.
At the dinner, Sr. Johnice announced plans to open a medical clinic at the center in mid January for people in need. The list of things the RTLC has done just continues to grow. If you think about where the center was at its humble start some 20 years ago by simply passing groceries out to the community and what it has evolved in to, again, the word is MIRACLE.
It is through the work of places like the RTLC that keeps the neighborhood ALIVE. These places and the people who stand against the tide of decline to ensure all are cared for and not forgotten are the true HEROES in society.
