(Buffalo News – 07/20/06 – P. Simon) The Buffalo Board of Education Wednesday evening voted, 7-2, to pay a private firm from Maryland $2.7 million to help design an alternative school, despite often heated criticism from four board members about cost, selection of the firm without competitive bidding and the secretiveness of the planning process.
They said ResulTech, the educational firm, already did $550,000 of work on the project without prior board approval or knowledge.
North District Board Member Donald A. Van Every questioned the legality of that initial work, and called the $2.7 million price tag “excessively expensive.”
