Architectural Details Close Up – Central Terminal Bulletin Boards

While I was out taking pictures for the car show on Saturday, I got a shot of one of the bulletin board display windows outside the northeast entrance to the building. These windows have always fascinated me. The level of decorative detail and outstanding quality of materials is just amazing!

The two display windows flank the entrance and were once lit and proudly displaying new rail promotions to its visitors. This colorful, highly veined marble is one of four variations of marble used in the terminal. While its a little weather beaten (and vandalized), you can still see the beauty of the carved Greco-Roman torch lamps and bronze and green painted cast iron framing and imagine how grand an impression this place must have made when it was shiny and new.

If only I could have seen it that way just once. I am hoping to live long enough to see it that way again!
