As much as butter lambs and chocolate bunnies, decorative panoramic eggs are a time-honored Easter tradition. This year, these beautiful, hand-made eggs will be available for purchase at the Corpus Christi booth in the Broadway Market, beginning on Palm Sunday and continuing through Holy Saturday. All proceeds from the sale of these special eggs will benefit the Outreach Center located at Corpus Christi Church. The Outreach Center assists people in need in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood of Buffalo.
The story behind these decorative eggs, just like the outreach work that the sale of the eggs will support, is a labor of love, hope and compassion. Since the age of ten, Theresa Woody (now 22) of Buffalo has assisted her parents Karen and Bruce in creating hollow Panoramic Sugar Easter eggs for family Celebrations. The eggs are for decorative purposes only and are completely made of sugar and water. The eggs take numerous steps to complete from creation of the royale icing flowers, to decorating the inside area with small chicks and birds, to molding the egg halves in special molds, hollowing them out, attaching the tops and bottoms and then the final decoration of the top of the egg. As Theresa has grown older, her responsibilities have also become more demanding in the annual family project.
